The poster and recorded presentation submission application closes on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 11:59 PM.

All posters and recorded presentations must be reviewed and approved by your faculty mentor prior to submission. An email confirming the receipt of submissions will be sent to the mentor and presenter(s). Posters and recorded presentations that do not meet the requirements below will be sent back for revision.

Recorded Presentation Format

Before Undergraduate Research Day, a six-day preview period will be available for viewing the posters. This preview is open to all members of the college community, including students, staff, and faculty, who will have the opportunity to peruse the posters and listen to the accompanying 1–3 minute recorded presentations by the student presenter(s). As part of this preview, we request that student presenters record their presentations in advance.

• Recorded presentations should be 3 minutes or less.
• The presentation can be recorded on a preferred device and saved as an MP3, WMA, or WAV file (for example).
• Please review the instructions to record audio files on a smartphone or iPhone.
• Please review the instructions to record in a PowerPoint presentation.

Poster Format

• Poster must be submitted electronically in PDF file format only.
• Must include the LAGCC logo; see guidelines.
• Must include the research program or funding program logo such as CRSP, LSAMP, NIH BRIDGES, QSTEM, Women in Science, etc. Please ask your faculty mentor if you need assistance.
• Include all presenter(s) and mentor(s) names.
• Include your abstract number in the upper right corner of the poster.

Poster Recommendations

• Keep text to a minimum, seek simplicity and avoid redundancies. Remember, you are not writing an article.
• Organize your content with columns, sections, headings and blocks of text.
• Choose a title that illustrates what your poster is about and be sure that the title is at least twice the size of your regular text.
• Choose colors carefully and pay attention to contrast. If in doubt, dark print on light backgrounds are best.
• The figures and tables should cover approximately 50% of the poster area and be strategically incorporated onto the poster (include title and figure legends for your figures and tables).
• Avoid fuzzy images; make sure all graphics are high-resolution and easily visible.
  Structure your poster by Introduction, Methods and Results. State your aims at the end of the Introduction.
• Let your important points stand out.
• If possible, avoid abbreviations and acronyms, especially in the Conclusions.
• Feel free to provide one or more key references (in the right lower corner).
