Commencement Day Details

Graduates: Please arrive at 7:30 a.m. completely robed in gown, stole, cap and tassel at the Main Gate on Kissena Blvd and report to your assigned Assembly Area (see below) adjacent to the Student Union Building or Kiely Hall.

Guests with tickets arriving with you should proceed to the Quad to be seated.

The processional will begin promptly at 9 a.m. Graduates and guests that arrive after the processional has begun must wait until it is completed to be seated.

From Long Island:
Take the LIE (495) westbound and watch for Queens College signs. For the main gate, get off at Exit 24 (Kissena Boulevard). Make a left at the light onto Kissena Boulevard. For on-campus parking, get off at Exit 23 (Main St), turn left onto Main Street and make another left onto LIE service road.

From Manhattan:
Take the LIE eastbound (495) and watch for Queens College signs. Get off at Exit 24 (Kissena Boulevard). For main gate, continue down the service road until the first traffic light and make a right onto Kissena Boulevard.

7 Train to Flushing/Main Street: On Main Street look for the Queens College Shuttle or take the Q25, Q25-34, Q34 or Q17 bus along Kissena Blvd to the campus.

M, R, E and F trains to Forest Hills/71st-Continental: (E, F run express) Use the “North side – 70 Ave. and 108 St” exit. Take the Q64 bus to Kissena Boulevard (one block south of the campus).

From Queens & Brooklyn:

F Train to Parsons Boulevard: On Archer Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard, take the Queens College Shuttle. On Jamaica Avenue and 160th Street or Hillside Avenue and Parsons Boulevard, take the Q25, Q25-34, or Q34 bus. From Hillside Avenue and either 169th or 179th Street, take the Q17 bus to Kissena Boulevard.

E, J, and Z Trains
On Archer Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard, take the Queens College Shuttle or from Jamaica Avenue and 160th Street or Hillside Avenue and Parsons Boulevard, take the Q25, Q25-34, or Q34 bus to campus. From Hillside Avenue and either 169th or 179th Street, take the Q17 bus to the campus.               

Flushing Station: On Main Street look for the Queens College Shuttle or take the Q25, Q25-34, Q34 or Q17 bus along Kissena Blvd to the campus.

Jamaica Station: (all trains except Port Washington branch). On Archer Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard, look for the Queens College Shuttle ; or from Jamaica Avenue and 160th Street or Hillside Avenue and Parsons Boulevard, take the Q25, Q25-34, or Q34 bus to the campus. From Hillside Avenue and either 169th or 179th Street, take the Q17 bus to the campus.

Q17 Runs from Main Street, Flushing (#7 subway and LIRR stations), to the 165th Street terminal in Jamaica (passing the IND 179th Street station). Travels along Kissena Boulevard, LIE service road, 188th Street, and Hillside Avenue. Stops at Kissena and the LIE, two blocks from the main gate.

Q20A/B Runs along Parsons Boulevard, then Union Street, switching to Main Street at Northern Boulevard. Line continues on Main Street until Horace Harding Expressway (LIE), looping along Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue before reversing course. Passes Queens Hall in both directions.

Q25-34 Runs from Main Street, Flushing (#7 subway and LIRR stations), along Kissena (stops at the main gate) and Parsons Boulevards to Jamaica Avenue and 160th Street (BMT and IND).

Q44 Runs from West Farms Square, Bronx (IRT) to Sutphin Boulevard, Jamaica (LIRR station). Stops at Main Street and Melbourne Avenue, two blocks west of campus.

Q64 Runs from Continental Avenue, Forest Hills (IND), along Jewel Avenue to 164th Street. Stops one block from campus.

Q88 Runs from Springfield Boulevard and Union Turnpike along Springfield to 73rd Avenue; along (or west on) 73rd Avenue to 188th Street; along 188th Street to the LIE; along the LIE service road to Queens Boulevard and Woodhaven Boulevard. Stops at Kissena Boulevard and the LIE, two blocks from the main gate.

QM4 Connects midtown Manhattan to Electchester, Queens. Runs between Third Avenue/East 56th Street in Manhattan, and 164th Street/Horace Harding Expressway (LIE) in Queens.

A limited number of caps and gowns will be available for purchase in-person during pick-up days.

Guest Tickets

Graduates will receive a total of four wristbands that serve as tickets for Commencement; one wristband for themselves, and three guest wristbands. All graduates and guests must have a wristband for entry to Queens College. Wristbands will be distributed in the M-Building Gym during cap and gown pick-up (June 3, 4 and 5 from 3–6 p.m.).

Students may request additional tickets at cap and gown distribution by submitting the Ticket Request Form, via a QR code that will be available to all graduates. Requestors will be notified if additional tickets are available by June 14th.

Are You Graduating at the End of this Semester?

Students must add Intent to Graduate (GRD000) to their profile on CUNYfirst during the 12-week session before they intend to graduate.

The deadline to apply for Spring 2024 graduation has passed.

Students may still add GRD000 by contacting registrar@lagcc.cuny.edu to ensure their academic record will be reviewed for degree completion. However, persons adding GRD000 after the deadline may not appear in the commencement program.

Academic Attire

Commencement regalia (in other words, a cap and gown) is required to participate in the ceremony.

The deadline to purchase a cap and gown has passed. Orders placed now may incur additional rush shipping charges.

Order Your Cap & Gown

Note: If you choose ship to home, you will still need to come to campus to obtain Commencement tickets, which are required for entry to Queens College.

On-campus pick-up for orders placed before April 29, 2023 will take place in the M-Building Gym on the following dates:

  • Monday, June 5; 3– 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 6; 3– 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 7; 3– 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 14; 4:30– 7:30 p.m.

Tickets

Arrival and Academic Procession

Graduates and their guests should enter through the Main Gate on Kissena Blvd.

The two Student Robing Areas are marked “A” and “B” (See map). Check back for Procession Line Up details.

Graduation Cruise

Campus Life is hosting a Graduation Cruise on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $65.00; check or money orders should be made payable to F.H. LaGuardia Community College Association. Payments must be paid at the Bursar’s Office by May 18, 2023. There are 250 tickets available for the cruise; ticket purchases are on a first come first served basis.
