Tips for Faculty – Blackboard Semester Start MARCH, 2016
Blackboard New Semester Checklist for LaGuardia Faculty

Unable to Attach Files in Blackboard: (Content, Assignment or Mail Message)
1 - No individual file uploaded to a Blackboard course should be larger than 25MB.
    * If possible, do not allow attachments to discussion board items. This can be adjusted by clicking on the "Modify" button for any Discussion forum and un-checking the "allow file attachments" option.
*Do not share large files over messages or via attachments as this can actually exponentially duplicate the amount of attachments.
2 -You might need to update Java or make sure that Javascript is enabled in the browser.
3 - Make sure you're closing the file before trying to attach in Blackboard. (Especially Microsoft documents)
4 - Having the browser's security setting for "cookies" too high may be causing the problem. Also, make sure that cookies from third parties are allowed.
5 - Third Party Plug-ins: Some content within courses may require the installation of third party plug-ins such as Adobe Flash, Windows Media Player, Realplayer, and many others. In each case there should be a notification and link informing you that you need to install a new plug-in. (Be careful that you only install trusted plug-ins that are necessary for the course content).
6 - If you are not getting the attachments window at all, you may have a popup blocker turned on. Pop-up killing or ad-blocking functions are built into some anti-virus, internet security, personal firewall, and browser programs. Although the Browser Checker in Blackboard can check for pop-up Blockers in your browser, it cannot check for pop-up blockers in other programs.

Need Java? Download it here. (Java is compatible with Blackboard.) Faculty: Gradebook screen not loading? Clear Java cache, clear IE cache, and restart computer.
