Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
LaGuardia Community College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI)
LaGuardia Community College is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) with an enrollment of undergraduate full-time equivalent students that is at least 25 percent Hispanic students. The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) publishes IPEDS data on institutions that serve large populations of Hispanic students. LaGuardia has been recognized as a Fulbright HSI Leader by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).

Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution
LaGuardia is an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution  (AANAPISI) and is part of the Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program (MSEIP), to assist predominantly minority institutions in effecting long-range improvement in science and engineering education programs and increasing the flow of underrepresented ethnic minorities, particularly minority women, into science and engineering careers.

National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) LaGuardia Community College is an institutional participant in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). (NC-SARA) was established to help expand students’ access to educational opportunities and ensure more efficient, consistent, and effective regulation of distance learning programs.

Program Accreditations and Affiliations

LaGuardia’s Paralegal Studies AAS program is approved by the American Bar Association, an advocate for the legal profession that works to promote the best quality legal education, competence, ethical conduct, and professionalism.

The Nursing (Registered Nurse/RN), AAS program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), which monitors certificate, diploma and degree offerings following state examination and licensing rules and the oversight of preparation for work in the profession.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), AAS program is accredited by Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) to help ensure quality occupational therapy education by developing accreditations standards and verifying implementation to support the preparation of competent occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants.

LaGuardia’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), AAS program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), the agency that grants specialized accreditation status to qualified entry-level education programs for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.

The Veterinary Technology, AAS program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association to advance the science and practice of veterinary medicine.
