Foundation Scholarships

You’re determined to graduate. We can reduce your financial burden.

Each year, the LaGuardia Community College Foundation awards students over $2 million in scholarships based on financial need and/or academic performance.

Apply for a Named Scholarship

Funded by generous donors, awards are given out each Fall and Spring semester to eligible students of any residency status. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 and above AND have completed 12 academic credits at LaGuardia to apply; if your current GPA is below 3.0, you may apply in the next semester.  After confirming your eligibility (listed below), you will need to:

  1. Complete a FAFSA or email a Needs Assessment Form to foundationscholarship@lagcc.cuny.edu
  2. Write a personal statement (minimum 200 words) expressing your accomplishments, background, and school and career goals. Please note that your online application cannot be saved, so please have your personal statement ready to include with your application. See our winning writing tips!
  3. Submit your application for consideration
  4. Wait for communication from the LaGuardia Foundation for a scheduled interview

International students with F1 Visa must visit or contact the International Student Services office to complete required forms before applying.

The 2023-2024 Foundation Scholarship Application is now closed. Please re-apply after April 1st, 2024 for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year.
