Dr. Maria Savva is an Associate Professor, Director of the International Studies Program and Co-Director of the Global and Experiential Office at LaGuardia Community College. She has published widely on the intercultural development of international educators, with additional research interests in cross-cultural identity formation and the internationalization of higher education. She holds a graduate degree in Comparative and International Education from the Department of International and Transcultural Studies at Columbia University and a Ph.D. in International Education from UCL’s Institute of Education in London. Prior to joining academia, Maria taught in both primary and secondary schools in the United States and abroad. She is a New York State certified teacher and also holds Qualified Teacher Status in England and Wales. View her scholarly work here.
