Facilities Planning, Design and Construction mission: Provide a safe, healthy, clean and engaging campus that facilitates pride, belonging and success among students, faculty, staff and visitors.
We are responsible for ensuring that the master planning, design and construction of the College’s facilities support the academic, research and administrative needs of our students, faculty and staff.
Additionally, our broad range of services include the design and construction of major renovations, campus improvements, and space utilization.
Planning
- Project budget planning and preparation.
- Space planning of short- and long-term projects.
- Coordinating floor plans, campus signage and space inventory updates.
Design
- Architectural and engineering design development.
- Campus-wide ADA compliance, and energy management program.
- Code compliance including review, violation correction and fire protection.
Construction
- Manage and closely supervise campus-wide construction.
- Facilitate Capital Projects with DASNY (Dormitory Authority of the State of New York), CUNY, NYPA (New York Power Authority) and other government agencies.
- Develop and implement technical solutions to unforeseen conditions.
- Ensure all projects adhere to guidelines & regulations to comply with federal, state and city codes.
- Serve as Construction Project Manager for all construction projects to ensure their completion in compliance with design intent and specifications.
The 2,992 glazed terracotta panels beautified the C-Building while making it safer and energy efficient, preventing water leaks and bringing it into compliance with building codes and laws.
The major 21,000 square foot expansion of the College’s library – a 60% increase of the previous space – included doubling its capacity to 732 seats, adding 312 workstations with internet connections, media rooms, 11 new group study rooms, new reading rooms, and much more.
The 10,000-ft2 new space was developed for 10,000 Small Businesses’ trainings, lectures, alumni events, and more. The 10,000 Small Businesses program, a partnership between LaGuardia and Goldman Sachs to support and help local entrepreneurs grow their businesses and create jobs, provides training in business development, capital building, systems management, and more.
C-Building Façade Replacement

Cohen Career Collective – C-Building, Fifth & Sixth Floors
Status: In design.
Anticipated Project Completion: Early 2029.
Location: C-Building, Fifth and Sixth Floors.
Description: Create a 160,000 square-foot state-of-the-art workforce training center preparing students for high demand jobs and career success.
Elevator Lobby – First Floor and Roof Access
Status: In design.
Anticipated Project Completion: End of 2028.
Location: Building wide.
Description: Building upgrades include:
- Addition of five new elevators — two will provide access to the roof.
- Renovated elevator lobbies.
- Installation of centralized chiller plant.
- New emergency generator.
- Incoming Con Ed electrical reinforcement.
Status: Under construction.
Anticipated Project Completion: End of 2025.
Location: First, Third and Seventh Floors.
Description: Reconstruct existing spaces to relocate and accommodate classrooms and offices affected by upcoming additional elevator project.
Work Space and Open Meeting Place – C Building, Ninth Floor
Status: In design.
Anticipated Project Completion: Early 2027.
Location: C-Building, Ninth Floor.
Description: Collaborative space to programmatically bridge current LaGuardia students with future employment opportunities.
Status: In design.
Anticipated Project Completion: Early 2026.
Location: E-Building, Fifth Floor and Theater.
Description: Replace obsolete roofing system with energy compliant roofing system.
Library Main Entrance – E-Building First Floor
Status: In design.
Anticipated Project Completion: End of 2026.

Description: Space renovation and Library HVAC upgrade.

Description: Relocation and renovation of research, biology, chemistry, physics, occupational therapy, and physical therapy labs.
