General Description

This is an administrative non-tax levy related entities staff position reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources (HR), exercising independent judgment in the fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities assigned. This position is responsible for supporting the administration of all time and leave, benefits, onboarding and offboarding for the non-tax levy entities including Research Foundation of CUNY (RFCUNY), LaGuardia Community College Association, LaGuardia Community College Auxiliary, and the Early Childhood Learning Center. The Senior HR Generalist will work on other HR-related projects for staff hired for and paid by the non-tax levy entities and may supervise staff as required.

POSITION DETAILS

The Senior HR Generalist will assist with the administration and coordination of employment services for each respective non-tax levy entity. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Functions as a liaison to the RFCUNY Human Resources Department (RF-HR) in support of the College’s management team responsible for recruitment and other talent acquisition needs related to grants and other initiatives supported by funds at the Research Foundation of CUNY. Consults frequently with RF-HR to ensure consistency in information provided to employees and to ensure accuracy in all processes.

· Prepares and executes various personnel transactions involving employee recordkeeping (including the I-9 maintenance, performance evaluations, and other personnel file documents), processing of new hires, pay administration within ADP Workforce Now, and benefits management (in consultation with the external benefits broker and TIAA representatives).

· Conducts routine onboarding or other training sessions for compliance and operational effectiveness purposes; designs information packages for employees as needed; assists with the coordination of onboarding activities as part of the College’s HR Department’s standards of operation; processes “person of interest” (i.e POI) documents and enters accurate data into CUNYFirst.

· Processes or assists with the processing of time and leave including annual, sick, unscheduled holiday, FMLA, Workers Compensation, and Paid Family Leave (PFL) according to the policies and procedures of each related entity; processes new hire payroll and benefit entries in ADP Workforce Now and TIAA CUNY portal.

· Reviews and proofreads job descriptions, prepares job postings, and coordinates advertisements for job searches; reviews and responds to applicants’ emails, screens resumes, prepares job offers, and closes searches; creates various reports in order to track recruitment and personnel action processes.

· Creates, collects, and organizes the documentation required for the performance evaluation and employment separation processes; provides general assistance with management of the performance appraisal process.

· Facilitates and attends meetings on behalf of the College or related entity; maintains frequent contact with related entity leadership regarding HR issues, and consults with the College’s Executive Director of HR regarding resolutions.

Qualifications

· A Master’s Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and three (3) years administrative, progressively responsible experience in human resources, of which at least one (1) year entailed working with state or local government processes, preferably in a higher education or non-profit organization, and at least one (1) year supervising the work of others in a related area.

· A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and four (4) years administrative, progressively responsible experience in human resources, of which at least one (1) year entailed working with state or local government processes, preferably in a higher education or non-profit organization, and at least one (1) year supervising the work of others in a related area.

· Expertise in ADP Workforce Now and processing bi-weekly payroll.

· Excellent math, verbal communication and business writing skills.

The CUNY Fatherhood Academy (CFA) is a free program designed to promote responsible parenting and foster economic stability for unemployed and underemployed young fathers ages 18-30, through education, employment, and personal development programming and support. The program’s central focus is to help young fathers prepare for and enroll in college or training programs, with the understanding that earning a college degree is the most effective path toward providing long-term economic sustainability for themselves and their families.

The Black Male Empowerment Cooperative (BMEC) at LaGuardia is a part of the CUNY Black Male Initiative. BMEC is a community of students connected to each other and the College through academic support services and mentorship. As a CUNY-wide initiative, CUNY BMI’s mission is to increase, encourage, and support the inclusion and educational success of students from groups that are severely underrepresented in higher education, in particular African, African American/Black, Caribbean and Latino/Hispanic males.

Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, the Student Life Director– CUNY Fatherhood Academy and Black Male Initiative will oversee the day-to-day operations of the department and ensure programmatic and contractual obligations are implemented.

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of LaGuardia CARES will lead and coordinate efforts to support students experiencing housing instability, food insecurity, and related basic needs challenges. This position is responsible for developing strategic initiatives, managing resources and partnerships, and ensuring that all students have access to safe housing and nutritious food throughout their academic journey. The Director will work collaboratively with campus departments, community partners, and government agencies to build and sustain a comprehensive basic needs program. An exceptional student advocate and strategic thinker and problem solver, the Director sees beyond short-term responses to students’ challenges and develops new solutions, striving with his/her/their colleagues to create the most welcoming and supportive campus environment possible for our students.

The Director of LaGuardia CARES is responsible for the following:

+ Design, implement, and oversee programs addressing student housing insecurity, homelessness, and food access;

+ Provide oversight for and manage the campus food pantry, emergency housing resources, and meal assistance programs;

+ Create and lead emergency response protocols for students facing immediate housing or food crises;

+ Coordinate temporary and long-term housing options, including partnerships with companies and organizations;

+ Partner with Student Affairs, Financial Aid, Counseling Services, Academic Affairs and other campus units to identify at-risk students and coordinate support services;

+ Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, food banks, housing authorities, and government assistance programs;

+ Represent the college on local, regional and national committees and/or at conferences on student basic needs;

+ Collect and analyze data related to student housing and food insecurity to inform strategic decision-making;

+ Prepare reports, proposals, and grant applications to secure external funding and demonstrate impact, coordinating with the college Foundation or Grants and Sponsored Programs Office as needed;

+ Oversee data collection and utilize data to monitor program outcomes and improve service delivery;

+ Lead campus-wide education campaigns to increase awareness of and destigmatize food and housing insecurity;

LaGuardia Community College's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Office is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment by identifying, evaluating, and mitigating harmful conditions and practices. Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Director of Office of Immigrant Student Success oversees the center’s activities, goals and program evaluation. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview the Director of the Immigration Office will perform the following duties:

The Natural Sciences Department at LaGuardia Community College, part of the City University of New York, is inviting applications for part-time faculty positions. We are looking to hire an instructor to teach a one-semester majors biology research course (SCB 252: Fundamentals of Biotechniques). In the Fall II semester, this course will meet in person on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 PM to 4:25 PM, running from January 5, 2026, to February 26, 2026. They will learn techniques commonly performed in biological laboratories, including micropipetting, isolation and quantification of nucleic acids and proteins, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), immunodetection, and gel electrophoresis. Additionally, students will explore data analysis, the responsible conduct of research, effective science communication, and reflect on the societal impact of biotechnological techniques. Students enrolled in this course are typically majoring in biology or biotechnology. Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching both the lecture and laboratory portions of the course, as well as developing and mentoring students through a research project involving _Drosophila Melanogaster_ . A Ph.D. in biology or a related field is preferred, along with expertise in modern biotechnological techniques, such as the CRISPR-Cas9 system.

**SCB 257 Genetics** : SCB257 is the capstone course for students in Biotechnology concentration. The course is also a program requirement for students in the Animal Science track. SCB257 covers essential aspects of genetics. Topics include mitosis, meiosis, Mendelian genetics, DNA replication, mutations, repair, gene expression and regulation, epigenetics, genomic features and analysis, genomic evolution, karyotype, ploidy, gene dosage, genetic mapping, genetic manipulations, and population genetics. During the recitation, students will solve Mendelian inheritance problems, Chi-square analysis to confirm Mendelian laws of inheritance. Students will conduct an immersive research project on gene mapping using _Drosophila melanogaster_ . Students will also be introduced to CRISPR-Cas9, DNA fingerprinting, and Ames testing. A Ph.D. in biology or a related field is preferred.

Reporting to the President, the Executive Director of Employer Engagement initiates and manages the college’s relationships with private sector employers, as well as with government agencies and arts, cultural, community service, and other nonprofit organizations. The Communication Studies Program at LaGuardia Community College seeks a creative and collaborative faculty member for an adjunct teaching position to teach introductory undergraduate courses in public speaking. These courses include Introduction to Public Speaking and Public Speaking. Finance Accountant, Level 1 (Provisional) - Business Operations

**GENERAL DUTIES**

- Performs professional work in the field of accounting or auditing in a higher education setting, coordinates accounting activities, and may supervise employees engaged in accounting activities. Work may be performed utilizing computer and related technologies.

- There are five Assignment Levels for this position (1, 1-A, 2, 3, 4). All personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments for this position; related duties may be assigned as needed.

ASSIGNMENT LEVEL 1:

- Under close supervision, performs entry-level professional work in the field of accounting, including assisting in the following:

- Maintaining general and special books of accounts.

- Posting accounting entries.

- Preparing trial balances, bank reconciliations, and similar.

- Establishing and maintaining codes for funds and reserves.

- Allocating costs and charges.

- Classifying revenues and expenditures.

ASSIGNMENT LEVEL 1-A:

- This assignment level is only for College Accountants who have five years of full-time service as a College Accountant and have not progressed to Levels 2, 3, or 4.

ASSIGNMENT LEVEL 2:

- Under supervision, performs professional work of average difficulty and responsibility in the field

of accounting or auditing, including performing the following tasks:

- Maintaining general and special books of accounts.

- Posting entries, including adjustments, closings, and extension.

- Preparing trial balances, bank reconciliations, operating statements, and financial schedules.

- Establishing and maintaining codes for funds and reserves.

- Gathering data for use in preparing and analyzing various budgets and schedules.

ASSIGNMENT LEVEL 3:

- Under general supervision, coordinates and may supervise the daily activities of a major unit dealing with a specialized phase or phases of accounting, usually in conjunction with student financial aid, funds and grants, payroll, bursar functions, accounting to support financial analysis, budgeting, auditing of financial accounts and records, contract performance and compliance, and similar. May perform difficult independent work in these professional areas. Tasks may include:

**CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION**

Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens **,** LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students.

Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. Reporting to the Finance Specialist, the Finance Accountant will monitor and maintain financial transactions for the LaGuardia Community College Foundation, and its related entities. Ensure that funds are managed in accordance with CUNY Guidelines, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and that year end statements are in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

+ Process cash disbursement transactions within the Financial Edge Accounts Payable sub-module, ensure expenses and accounts payable are reflected accurately to the general ledger;

+ Review requisitions for adequate supporting documentation and process purchase orders;

+ Process adjusting journal entries for monthly close;

+ Liaise with the Development department to review budgets, and monitor spending trends;

+ Assist the Foundation Finance Specialist with ad-hoc reports;

+ Assist Finance Specialist gather sample selections and prepare mid-year and year-end audit schedules.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

ASSIGNMENT LEVEL

ALL LEVELS A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, including or supplemented by at least eighteen (18) college credits in accounting, and at least six (6) credits in data processing, computer science, banking, economics, statistics, or similar courses.

- Demonstrated English language proficiency, including the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English well enough to meet minimally acceptable performance standards set for job tasks.

- For work experience requirements (below), CUNY considers full-time work to be 35 hours per week. Part-time experience of at least 20 hours per week may be prorated and credited instead of, but not in addition to, full-time experience during the same period.

- Part-time experience of less than 20 hours per week will not be credited at all.

LEVEL 1: No additional work experience is required.

LEVEL 1-A: Five years full-time service as a College Accountant, if employee has not progressed to Levels 2, 3, or 4.

LEVEL 2: One year of full-time related experience in an appropriate field.

LEVEL 3: Two years total of full-time related experience in an appropriate field.

LEVEL 4: Three years total of full-time related experience in an appropriate field.
