Thank you for your interest in LaGuardia’s Student Success Mentor (SSM) Program. Your qualifications and application — including whether you meet the credit and GPA requirements, your academic and professional experience, and your responses to the short-answer questions — will determine your selection for an interview. All interviews will take place in-person at LaGuardia.  The SSM position itself is also in-person.

Before submitting an application, please carefully review the information below:

  • GPA of 3.2 or higher*
  • 24 or more credits**
  • Be a current student at LaGuardia Community College; OR a recent LaGuardia graduate attending a four-year college

*SSMs model what it means to be a successful student. Therefore, their academic record should demonstrate achievement and growth.

**Applicants must have 24 credits at the time of application. This can include transfer credits – but at least 12 credits must have been taken at LaGuardia. Applicants expecting to reach 24 credits by the end of Spring I 2025 are not eligible. If you are looking for on-campus employment but don’t meet our credit requirement at this time, we encourage you to visit LaGuardia’s Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) to explore other opportunities.

  • The application requires a resume submission. If you need help with your resume, we encourage you to make an appointment with a CCPD career advisor.  
  • The application does not require a cover letter. Instead, the application contains three short-answer questions intended to help us learn more about your qualifications and interest in the SSM position.  
  • $19.00 per hour
