Sign up for in-person and virtual tutoring on My LaGuardia!

Make appointments as usual on My LaGuardia (see below).

For virtual appointments, be sure to check in by email at WCLab@lagcc.cuny.edu 15 minutes before your session time so that we know that you are here.

For in-person appointments, be sure to arrive on time in B-200.
How to make an appointment

As usual, make your appointment by going into My LaGuardia, clicking on the red Make Appointment button beneath Tutoring Services, and filling in your responses.
After you click on Make Appointment, a field will appear with the words, "Select appointment type," with a drop-down menu now offering the choices of "Virtual" and "In-person." Click on your preference, and you’ll then be led to the same steps as before, respectively resulting in an online or in-person appointment.
When appointments for a particular period are filled, a Wait List appears. You may sign up to be on the Wait List, and ten minutes after the beginning of a period, if students with actual appointments have not checked in, their appointments will be given to students on the Wait List.
Before your actual online appointment, register for your free CUNY-provided Zoom account at cuny.zoom.us.
15 minutes before your virtual appointment, be sure to check in by sending an email to WCLab@lagcc.cuny.edu so that we know that you’re here. Minutes later a tutor will contact you for your session.
You can request a particular tutor in your check-in email or when you arrive in B 200. If you don’t get that tutor, either the tutor was not on duty or they already had a student.
For online and in-person B 200 appointments, you still have to be on time, and as always, after the first ten minutes your appointment will be given to someone on the Wait List.
If you are on the Wait List, also as always, you still must appear on time. After the first ten minutes of the period, you’ll be informed either that you are getting an appointment or that all the appointments are full and that you should sign up for a later time.
Be sure you know your teacher’s first and last name so that your tutor can send a session report to the right person.

Welcome to the Writing Center!
The Writing Center offers free professional tutoring on any aspect of any phase of any kind of writing, including:

finding or narrowing a focus for your writing

working out an outline or writing plan

developing detailed, effective paragraphs

using quotes and citation appropriately

zeroing in on specific grammar issues

reviewing a finished piece before submission

revising graded work

For all this and more, for any academic course or other writing purpose, such as personal statements and essays for scholarships and transfer applications, the Writing Center offers friendly, skilled, trained professional tutors. The Writing Center is open to all LaGuardia students who have begun taking English courses, whether or not they are now taking an English course. Students taking content area courses such as social sciences, humanities, health services, and business administration make up almost half of the students who use the Writing Center each term!
