At LaGuardia, you have the option to earn while you learn. The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program offers students an opportunity to earn money by working part-time and gaining valuable hands-on work experience. Work-Study students can work on or off-campus. Students who have been awarded FWS funds will receive instructions via email on how to apply for jobs online. Students who have not been awarded FWS funds will need to complete the 2023-2024 FWS Request form in order to be put on a waitlist. The completed form must be emailed to FWSJOBS@lagcc.cuny.edu for processing.
Complete the 2023-2024 FWS Request Form
Federal Work-Study Process:
Students are notified through their financial aid award letter if they were awarded work-study. If the student has never participated in the program they will be required to complete the online FWS Student Orientation and submit the “Students Rights & Responsibilities” form along with the FWS packet. The next step is for students to search and apply for a job on-campus or off-campus online. After the student has been hired they are required to print and complete the FWS forms available online. The work-study agreement must be completed and signed by both the student and supervisor.
Job Placement Process
First year students or first time awardees must complete the online FWS Orientation prior to job placement. All continuing students who wish to return to a prior job site must confirm with the site supervisor and submit a completed FWS agreement/packet to SFS- Payroll office every academic year.
Student changing work location during the academic year will need to submit a new work-study agreement to the Federal Work Study office.
Students who have not been awarded FWS funds in CUNYfirst, must submit a completed 2023-2024 FWS Request form available on the LaGuardia FWS webpage.
Important: Students must receive confirmation from the Federal Work-Study office in order to begin working.
