THEME: 50 Years of Innovation, Excellence, & Ingenuity: Building a Bright Future Together
COVID-19 has reshaped the ways we think about our health care, education, political, and economical institutions. In March of 2020, we had to quickly pivot our focus, resources, and energy on providing teaching, services, and support in a virtual environment. During this unprecedented time, we have experienced the continued surge in social injustices in our BIPOC communities, violence towards our AAPI communities, and the continued effects of the global pandemic (COVID-19). This “new” way of operating as an institution in higher education has revealed the strength and resiliency of LaGuardia (#laguardiastrong). As we faced a myriad of challenges during the transition, we have consistently worked hard collectively as a college to ensure student access, engagement, success.
We thank you all for a productive, engaging, and successful event on yesterday! With over 1,400 views on YouTube and over 300 participants, we deepened our commitment to our students and communities by actively engaging in a morning of thoughtful dialogue. We would also like to thank President Adams and Provost Arcario for their informative and reflective keynote addresses, highlighting LaGuardia’s “50 Years of Innovation, Excellence, & Ingenuity” and all featured presenters. As a community, we have a long road ahead of us, yet this year’s Opening Sessions offers a pathway to “Building a Bright Future Together”. The Opening Sessions committee would like to hear from you.
