LaGuardia Community College Welcomes Melissa Grant as Assistant Dean for Advising

Melissa Grant, Assistant Dean for AdvisingLONG ISLAND CITY, NY (September 15, 2025) — LaGuardia Community College/CUNY recently hired Melissa Grant as Assistant Dean for Advising.

Melissa has 25 years of progressive leadership in NYC higher education institutions. Her expertise is in student success, academic affairs, program development, organizational change, and enrollment management.

In her new role, Melissa provides strategic and operational leadership in the development, assessment, and delivery of innovative and holistic advisement services and programs across the campus, including Accelerated Studies in Associates Program (ASAP), College Discovery (CD), and Student Advising Services (SAS). Melissa reports to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.

Prior to joining LaGuardia, Melissa served as Associate Dean of Academic Advisement at Pace University, where she designed and led the newly centralized Division of Advisement as inaugural Associate Dean, uniting formerly distinct advisement units in six schools and two programs across both campuses. While at Pace, Melissa previously served as Assistant Dean for Graduate Advisement and Student Development in the Lubin School of Business.

Melissa’s other experience includes serving as Training Lead/Manager of CUNYfirst at the central office of the City University of New York. At Long Island City University, Melissa served as Director of First-Year Programs; Career Development Counselor; and Academic Advisor in the Office of Student Development and Retention. Her earlier experience includes serving as an English Teacher at Brooklyn Technical High School and Assistant Director of International Student Affairs at Parsons School of Design, The New School.

Melissa earned a Master of Science in Higher Education from the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College and a Bachelor of Arts in English and American Literature from the School of Arts and Sciences at Hunter College.
