LaGuardia Community College Offers New Fully Online Cybersecurity Degree Program
LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (July 22, 2025) — LaGuardia Community College/CUNY is now offering a fully online associate degree program in Cybersecurity, expanding access to one of today’s most in-demand and fast-growing fields. The new Online Cybersecurity Program complements an existing in-person format, providing greater flexibility for students balancing work, family, or other responsibilities.
“As more companies rely on complex computer networks, the demand for professionals who can build, maintain, and secure these systems continues to grow,” said Dr. Doyel Pal, Professor of Computer Science and Cybersecurity Program Director. “Our new Online Cybersecurity Program is designed to ease participation for students juggling full-time work or other responsibilities. Courses will be delivered asynchronously—giving students the flexibility to complete coursework from anywhere on their own schedules while building essential skills to secure digital systems, network and data.”
The Cybersecurity program prepares students for careers in network and systems administration and information security. Through a hands-on curriculum, students develop the skills needed for roles such as security analyst, system administrator, network technician, information security analyst, and IT specialist.
Graduates of the Online Cybersecurity Program will be well-positioned to enter the workforce or transfer to four-year institutions to pursue bachelor’s degrees in Cybersecurity, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Cybersecurity Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science and related fields.
Under New York State Governor Kathy Hochul’s expanded CUNY Reconnect initiative, New Yorkers aged 25–55 may be eligible to have their tuition, fees, books, and supplies fully covered, after applying financial aid. Cybersecurity students who qualify for CUNY Reconnect will also receive academic advising and support.
Applications are now open for the Fall semester. Classes begin September 9. Click here to apply.
