LAGUARDIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE HOSTS ANNUAL GOVERNMENT AND BUSINESS EXPO
LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (November 02, 2022) — LaGuardia Community College/CUNY’s Small Business & Entrepreneur Services will host its annual fall Government and Business Expo on Friday, November 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at NYDesigns, the college’s on-campus design and tech startup and incubator space, at 29-10 Thomson Ave, Suite C-760, Long Island City, NY.
“Our annual Government and Business Expo is an important way that we serve our community—because when local small businesses flourish, our neighborhoods benefit, and our graduates have job opportunities,” said Kenneth Adams, president of LaGuardia Community College. “By helping small businesses develop relationships and secure contracts with government agencies and prime contractors, they find new revenue streams to grow their businesses. And the hiring agencies and firms find new talent to fulfill critical job needs.”
The Expo is an opportunity for owners or representatives of small businesses and Minority and/or Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) companies to meet with prime contractors and government agency representatives to explore immediate contract opportunities.
Michael J. Garner, chief diversity officer and inclusion at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), will give a keynote address. Mr. Garner will share what the MTA is doing to increase the opportunity for small, minority, women- owned firms in the government’s supply chain and how businesses can participate.
The Expo is sponsored by Ferreira Construction and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).
