About
The Engineering Science program is a dual-joint program offered by LaGuardia and the City College of New York (CCNY). This program prepares students during the first two years of their engineering education in the following tracks: Civil, Earth System Science & Environmental, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. The program will provide students with the requisite critical thinking, technical, and analytical skills along with a strong mathematical and science background for future study in four-year engineering schools, enabling them to ultimately succeed as engineering professionals.
Environmental Engineers use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. They are involved in efforts to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control.

What makes this major unique?
This program is one of the only “dual/joint” degrees at LaGuardia and will allow students to seamlessly continue their studies at City College
Career Possibilities
Students completing this major will need to transfer to a 4-yr college to complete a bachelor’s in engineering for most career possibilities in the field.
Transfer Possibilities
A. REQUIRED CORE: 14 credits
B. FLEXIBLE CORE: 20 credits
Select one course from each Flexible Core category and one additional course from Scientific World. Note: The recommended courses for Scientific World are listed.
To complete the degree requirements from the Flexible Core, students are advised to select courses from the recommended course selections listed in the program handbook.
Students are advised to take MAT 115 (College Algebra and Trigonometry) or MAT117 (Algebra and Trigonometry) and MAT 200 (Pre-calculus) as they are prerequisite courses for MAT 201 (Calculus I).
