Medical Coding
Enter the high demand field of medical coding and prepare for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) certification, the most recognized credential in healthcare information management. Designed for professionals with some related experience, this course builds the knowledge needed to accurately assign codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services within hospitals, clinics and insurance organizations. You will gain an in-depth understanding of healthcare systems, reimbursement processes, anatomy, physiology, and the ICD-10 and CPT coding systems. Upon successful completion of this course, you will earn a LaGuardia certificate of completion. You may also earn up to 9 college credits towards an AS Degree in Business Administration: Healthcare Management at LaGuardia Community College. Prerequisites: Two years of experience in healthcare administration, medical billing or a related healthcare support role. Familiarity with medical terminology, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and digital literacy in Microsoft Office. (Cost of textbook included in course fee). Payment plan available. ND
