“Our Spring lineup features community celebrations—dynamic events that bring together art enthusiasts to support the creative voices of minority artists and foster a spirit of inclusivity and cultural appreciation,” said Evelyn Lowmark, Interim Executive Director of LPAC. “Audience members will be supporting local artists and contributing to the growth and recognition of their work. These are must-see performances for anyone passionate about the arts.”
“These events push the boundaries of traditional performances and offer unforgettable experiences with breathtaking performances that will leave you inspired and entertained,” added Handan Ozbilgin, LPAC’s Artistic Director.
Entre Líneas with Laura Peralta: Afro-Dominican Flamenco artist Laura Peralta marks her emergence as an independent artist after over a decade with renowned dance companies. In Entre Líneas, Peralta uses Flamenco’s symbolic elements—the dress, the shawl, the guitar, rhythm, masculinity, and femininity—to explore the tension between tradition and self-expression and examine how Flamenco’s archetypes can be both limiting and empowering.
Peralta’s performance is part of the CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI) spearheaded by The Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College. CDI receives major support from the Mertz Gilmore Foundation and Howard Gilman Foundation, with additional support from the SHS Foundation, the Harkness Foundation for Dance, the National Endowment for the Arts, and public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the New York City Council.
Entre Líneas will take place on Saturday, February 1, at 7:30 p.m. on LPAC’s Mainstage Theater. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for faculty and staff (use code FACULTY), and $15 for students (use code STUDENT). Reserve tickets here.
