LaGuardia Community College Hires Wayne Levy as Chief Information Officer
LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (September 11, 2025) — LaGuardia Community College/CUNY has hired Wayne Levy as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO), starting September 15.
Wayne brings years of information technology management experience in higher education, leading diverse teams and overseeing operations, data networks, and college-wide technologies.

In his role as CIO, Wayne reports to the Senior Vice President for Administration and provides leadership for information technology resources and services. Wayne will be responsible for all areas within the Information Technology Department, including project management, instructional computing, administrative computing, telecommunications, user support, network management, web services, database management, and programming. He will oversee all central operations in these areas and ensure efficient utilization of available resources and high-quality of all support services.
Prior to joining LaGuardia, Wayne served as Director of Application Lifecycle Management with the City University of New York (CUNY), where he managed multiple teams to implement projects and deliver operations across a diverse set of IT responsibilities, including the implementation of CUNY IT Help, a university-wide IT support platform. Wayne also served as Director of ERP Planning and Enhancements, leading the planning and delivery of enhancements and a system upgrade for the CUNYfirst PeopleSoft ERP system, including the Financials and Supply Chain Management, Human Capital Management, and Campus Solutions pillars.
Wayne’s other previous experience includes serving as Director of Management Consulting at Visionary Integration Professionals; as a consultant with CGI Solutions and Technologies; a business analyst and NYC 311 project team lead with the NYC Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) and as a business analyst for the E-Government Office of OTI.
Wayne earned a Masters of Public Affairs from the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
