LaGuardia Community College Hires Mary DiGangi as Executive Director of Human Resources
LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (June 18, 2024) — LaGuardia Community College/CUNY has hired Mary C. DiGangi as its new Executive Director of Human Resources. Mary, who officially began her role on June 3, is a Human Resources professional with more than 25 years of experience leading Human Resources teams in providing services to employees in healthcare organizations.
In her new role, Mary is responsible for developing and implementing strategic Human Resources goals and objectives to improve customer service and organizational effectiveness, aligning those goals with the overall College strategic plan and mission.

I was drawn to the College because I believe in the commitment to educate and graduate one of the most diverse student populations in the country,” Mary said. “I am also aligned with the College’s values of learning, diversity, opportunity, responsibility, and innovation as well as its commitment to use these values as a guide for decisions, actions, and behaviors of the LaGuardia community. I look forward to collaborating with leadership, providing strategic support, and leading a team of Human Resources professionals toward the goals to elevate the importance of talent acquisition, training and development, employee engagement, as well as performance management while fostering a diverse environment.”
Reporting to Shahir Erfan, the Sr. Vice President for Administration and Finance, Mary will lead and manage the College’s Human Resources department in accordance with CUNY policies, procedures, and practices and in compliance with all applicable laws. Areas of responsibility include benefits, payroll, time and leave, human resources information systems, employee relations, engagement, and professional development.
Prior to joining LaGuardia, Mary served as the Vice President, Human Resources for the Metropolitan Jewish Health System (MJHS), one of New York’s largest not-for-profit health systems, and as Human Resources Regional Assistant Director for the Kingsboro Medical Group PC, consisting of four full service medical facilities throughout Brooklyn.
Mary is familiar with CUNY, holding an M.S. in Business Management and Leadership from the CUNY School for Professional Studies, and a B. S. in Business Management from Brooklyn College.
