Communications and External Affairs Restructures Division to Enhance Service to LaGuardia

LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (January 10, 2024) — The Communications and External Affairs (CEA) Division, under the leadership of Vice President Manny Romero, has modified its structure to offer enhanced services to the college.

In 2022, Marketing and Communications department, previously under the Institutional Advancement Division, became its own division and was renamed as Communications and External Affairs when Vice President Romero joined LaGuardia.

The Marketing and Communications Department has been modified into two separate departments to better meet the needs of the college and the community. Gina Taraskewich, who has been working at LaGuardia since 2014, is the Director of Communications. In this role, Gina oversees the college’s communications efforts including the management of email announcements, campus-wide newsletters, “Campus Update” and “Red Hawk Round-Up,” and the President’s monthly newsletter. In addition, Gina manages the content and design of the LaGuardia website and the communications team responsible for handling LaGuardia’s official social media platforms, digital and online communications across the college.

CEA recently hired Caridad Muñoz as its new Director of Marketing. Caridad, a 2002 LaGuardia alumna, has been working at the college fulltime since 2012 as the Electronic Communications Media Manager. In her new role as Marketing Director, Caridad manages all aspects of marketing efforts including advertising across multiple media (radio, television, online, and digital). She supervises the creative team from CEA including branding (the use of the LaGuardia logo), photography, videography and graphic design for brochures and promotional publications, campus signage, and campus merchandise. CEA is currently looking to fill the position of Electronic/Digital Communications Media Manager.

The CEA Division continues to provide services and guidance on External Affairs through its media relations, government affairs, and community engagement team members.

Romero says, “The enhanced structure presents more opportunities for focused attention in key areas to help promote the college effectively.” To learn more about CEA visit the Division’s website.
