LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (November 30, 2022) — Today, Kenneth Adams, president of LaGuardia Community College/CUNY, hosted a panel discussion on campus with New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, the city’s budget watchdog and chief accountability officer.

Those in attendance included LaGuardia students, faculty, and staff, who learned about New York City government, politics, and finance.

Comptroller Lander explained how his office works to expand opportunities for New Yorkers, create shared prosperity for people of all backgrounds, and ensure that pandemic recovery is inclusive across all NYC communities. One strategy discussed is increasing access to paid internships for LaGuardia students, and those from other public higher education institutions, at accounting firms and within government entities, e.g., the Office of the Comptroller.

Lander was first elected to the City Council in 2009 where he co-founded the Council’s Progressive Caucus.
