In this workshop, students will explore the importance of relationships, self-care during uncertain times, co-regulation, and grounding techniques. Students will also have space to reflect upon different kinds of relationships, warning signs, and being in healthy relationships with themselves and others. Shellyne Rodriguez is a Bronx-based artist, educator, historian, writer, and community organizer who works in a variety of media, including drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture. Through her multidisciplinary practice Rodriguez stewards the histories and stories of people that have shaped her lived experience. Trauma calls attention to how difficult events can stay with us. Students will lead discussion and activities based on research and plans to explore trauma-informed pedagogy, which is centered on learning, moving, connecting, and transforming as interconnected paths toward healing and development. A session that addresses financial literacy, the importance of self-sufficiency, and financial independence, especially for women. An interactive workshop that also addresses the ways finances & control can lead to financial abuse in relationships, warning signs, and how to address them.
