Understanding Anti-Asian Racism: Historical Context and Current Climate

March 28 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

Understanding Anti-Asian Racism is a panel discussion designed to tackle the grim realities of anti-Asian racism in America. This event will explore the deep-rooted historical context of anti-Asian sentiment, tracing its origins and evolution throughout American history. The panelists will present current trends and statistics, shedding light on the surge in anti-Asian hate crimes in the recent years. The panel will focus on the profound psychological impact such racism inflicts upon Asian American communities, including heightened levels of fear, anxiety, and trauma. With an emphasis on the influential role of media and technology, the presentations will scrutinize how these tools can perpetuate harmful stereotypes or, conversely, act as powerful platforms for positive change.
