Acclaimed writer Javier Zamora will read from his gripping memoir Solito at LaGuardia Community College.
Solito, a New York Times bestseller, is Zamora’s gripping account of crossing El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico into the U.S. as a nine-year-old. It has been described as “a revelation, a new landmark in the literature of migration, and in nonfiction writ large.” Zamora is also the author of a book of poetry, Unaccompanied (Copper Canyon Press, 2017). Limited copies of both books will be available for giveaway at the event.
The event is supported by the NEH grant Border Lands, Border Waters as well as the Creative Writing Committee of the English Department.
