In conjunction with NYCMC Honors – Echoes of Excellence, immerse yourself in insightful & thoughtful workshops, taking place on Oct. 30th at LPAC:
THE EVOLUTION OF HIP HOP (2 p.m. – 3 p.m.): Will Fulton moderates a panel with Hip-Hop pioneers Hank Shocklee and Don Fryson, exploring the genre’s current state, and its future in a digital world.
This workshop will be held in Little Theater.
MUSIC AS HEALING (2 p.m. – 3 p.m.): Regina Varin-Mignano and Reggie Parker discuss the mental health challenges musicians face and how music can serve as a healing tool.
This workshop will be held in Room E-242.
MUSIC & WELLNESS: CANCER AWARENESS & PREVENTION (3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.): Dr. Nicolle Fernandes, LAGCC Professor & Community Ambassador for the American Cancer Society, moderates a panel focusing on cancer prevention and self-care, which are crucial for musicians with demanding lifestyles. Panel speakers include Reginald Pittman, a specialist in Holistic Prostate Health, Terri McFarlane and Nathalie Vieux-Gresham from The Witness Project of Harlem Breast Cancer Awareness Program and Bianca Marquez, Patient Navigator at Bellevue Hospital.
This workshop will be held in Room E-242.
