Data Analytics and Data Science Program

Get the skills you need to succeed in the booming information technology and analytics marketplace.

The ability to gather, prepare, analyze and display data is one of the most sought-after skill sets in the information technology marketplace, with demand spanning across sectors that include healthcare, finance, retail, real estate and even gaming.

This program offers beginner, intermediate and advanced level data analytics courses, which may be taken individually or as part of a series. Certificate program courses not offered this quarter will be offered in a future quarter.

PATH 1 for Beginner Students

If you are a beginner, you can earn a LaGuardia Certificate in Data Analytics by completing the following courses:
  • Data Analytics Foundations (Beginner) - 36 hours
  • Python for Data Analytics (Intermediate) - 60 hours
  • Data, Databases and SQL (Intermediate) - 36 hours
  • Data Visualization with Tableau (Intermediate) - 36 hours

PATH 2 for Beginner Students

If you are a beginner, you can earn a LaGuardia Certificate in Advanced Data Analytics by completing the following courses:
  • Data Analytics Foundations (Beginner) - 36 hours
  • Python for Data Analytics (Intermediate) - 60 hours
  • Predictive Analytics: Machine Learning (Advanced) - 60 hours

PATH 1 for Advanced Students

If you have previous experience with Python, you can earn a LaGuardia Certificate in Advanced Data Analytics by completing the following course(s):

Data Science: Predictive Analytics (Advanced)

Take your data analysis skills to the next level. Build on your knowledge of data analytics by learning advanced Python and take a deeper dive into machine learning and modeling. You will use machine learning to train various types of models to make predictions on large datasets. Upon successful completion of this course, you will earn a LaGuardia certificate in Advanced Data Analytics. Prerequisite: Data Analytics Foundations and Python for Data Analytics or passing of an assessment that requires intermediate knowledge of Python and statistics. ND

Tensor Flow Certificate Prep Class

Prepare to take industry standard certificate exam in Machine Learning with the Google TensorFlow Certificate. This guided study group covers topics included on the internationally recognized assessment exam, including basic developer skills, building and training neural network models, image classification, natural language processing (NLP), time series, sequences and predictions. INSTRUCTOR BIOS

Neeraj Sharma
Neeraj Sharma (Executive MBA and Bachelor Degree in Computer Science) is a seasoned business and technology leader with over two decades of experience in executing and managing large scale implementations in the Data Analytics space. He is a hands-on leader with a special focus on carrying out Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics projects that solve large scale customer problems and help drive industry innovation. One of Neeraj’s main objectives is to help companies achieve their goals by adopting a data driven approach to their strategic decision-making process with the right use of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and Business Intelligence technologies. Neeraj is a Visiting Faculty Member at Rutgers Business School and has mentored and trained many successful candidates in the AI, Data Analytics, Data Science and Business Intelligence space.  
Imran Khan
Imran Khan
Has over a decade of experience advising corporations, government, non-profits and start-ups on strategy development, formulation and implementation. He has served as a policymaker in federal, state and local government. Imran’s technical areas of expertise include data science, materials science and engineering, and statistics. His academic background is in business administration, applied urban science and informatics, public policy, and biochemistry. Currently, Imran works as a data analytics consultant at the i4 Group and principal at Build Well Labs.
Niteen Kumar
(Big Data Specialization, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); Master Degree in Data Science, Bachelor Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering), is a multi-skilled data scientist and senior solution architect with a focus on data science, machine learning, advanced analytics and AI for building information driven enterprise. He has over 15 years of experience in the software industry and plays an analytical role in researching, designing, implementing and deploying scalable data science and machine learning solutions. One of his main objectives is to ensure that data science groups adopt the best-in-class processes and techniques. He has expertise in data engineering and Big Data space. Niteen brings his years of work experience to the classroom. He worked with one of the major EdTech firms for his online course, “Data Science with Python,” which now has over 18,000 learners. He also worked closely with LaGuardia Community Colleges to develop and launch the micro credential Data Analytics and Data Science Program.
