Welcome LaGuardia Academic Chairs and Faculty

Dear Academic Chairs and Faculty,

As we prepare for the start of Fall 2022, Billie and I wish to express our appreciation for all of the work that you have done to welcome our students back to LaGuardia.

We continue to monitor developments related to COVID-19, and we remain vigilant in following city, state and CUNY protocols to keep everyone on our campus safe and healthy.

Student Vaccine Mandate

As I mentioned during Opening Sessions earlier this week, the college needed to remove/drop students who have not provided proof of vaccination in CUNYfirst. You may notice a drop in the enrollments of some courses. This might be because students who were removed needed to re-enroll, since their seats were not held for them.

It is important to note that prior to the removals LaGuardia students received numerous messages reminding them to upload their vaccination documentation, and college staff are now working with students who are trying to remedy this. We want to thank the 96 faculty and staff volunteers from across the college, especially from the Student Information Center and Enrollment Management, who reached out to students on this matter.

Friendly Reminders

To help contain the spread of COVID-19, CUNY continues to conduct regular testing of a random sampling of LaGuardia community members. If selected for random testing, you must comply when you receive an email from no-reply@cleared4work.com with detailed instructions. There is no appointment necessary for random testing, however you must choose from 19 CUNY sites to get tested. The LaGuardia location is: 31-10 Thomson Ave, Queens, NY 11101; entrance on Van Dam Street, Building E-242. Hours of operation: Mondays and Tuesdays, 9 a.m. – 12 noon; Wednesdays and Thursdays, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Fridays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Saturdays, CLOSED.

We urge all members of the LaGuardia community to please update and/or complete your contact information in CUNYfirst. The college sends out community notices to the email addresses provided in CUNYfirst and through CUNY Alert text messages if necessary. In addition, updates, news, and helpful information will be posted on LaGuardia’s social media platforms: FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

Thank you,

Kenneth Adams
President, LaGuardia Community College
