Dear Friends,
On Monday, we honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose leadership in the Civil Rights Movement inspired justice, equality, civility, and peace. Dr. King also sought to inspire us to serve others. There are many ways we do this at LaGuardia and beyond the college in our own communities. Let us not forget his well-known remark, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?”
The urgency of the question underscores the urgency of service. If we pause this weekend to take stock of how we serve others, acknowledge the urgency of service, and recommit to selfless giving through new commitments that we make for 2026, we will be that much closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community” in which all people are treated with dignity, respect, and kindness.
In friendship and with hope for the future,
Kenneth Adams
