Policing, Pews, and Firehouse Politics:

To mark the 40th anniversary of the New York City Gay Rights Bill, LaGuardia and Wagner Archives is holding a panel on the evolution of groups that had largely opposed gay and lesbian rights in the 1970s and 1980s but now include gay and lesbian individuals as leaders or advocate more for LGBTQ+ inclusivity. These include the NYPD, the FDNY, and Catholic Church. Introductory remarks by former City Council Member Daniel Dromm to be followed by a poem by LaGuardia Community College alum Kayla Texidor. Panel to be moderated by historian Stephen Petrus of the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives.
