The Spring I Semester runs from Wednesday, March 4, 2026, to Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Non-degree applicants should note the following requirements and steps before submitting the application:

  • Proof of high school graduation OR Proof of Bachelor’s degree (U.S. graduates only.) is required  Foreign educated applicants must provide proof of High school graduation and the diploma must be translated into English, regardless of the completion of a higher college degree.
  • Non-degree applicants may need to provide proof of prior coursework to the Registrar/Academic Department-this requirement will vary depending on the courses you select.
  • Non-degree student’s can view the tuition rates here by navigating to the “Tuition and fees” drop-down menu under the non-degree title.
  • After the submission of your application and academic documents, please allow 5-7 business days for our team to process the application. Once processed, you will receive an email with the next step in the registration process.
  • Please note-non-degree applicants do not declare a major, and therefore do not receive advisement. Transfer credits are not an available option for non-degree applicants. If you intend to transfer in credits and pursue a  major, please visit this link to apply as a degree seeking student.
  • If you have previously attended LaGuardia but did not graduate, you are not eligible to apply. You will need to go to the Enrollment Services Center (C-107) to submit an application for Readmission.

Apply as a non-degree/visiting student

Non-degree/visiting students take courses for college credit but do not pursue a degree. Credits you earn are transferable to degree programs at LaGuardia or other colleges.

Why take non-degree courses?

  • You’re admitted elsewhere but would like to take a class your school doesn’t offer.
  • You need classes as prerequisites for your degree at another institution.
  • You’re looking for certification for your job.
  • You want to improve your academic record and prepare for admission to a specific program.

*The $65 fee will be added to your bill when you successfully register. Note: Veterans of the U.S. Military, those currently on Active Duty or members of the National Guard or Reserves may obtain an application fee waiver by submitting proof of their Veteran/Military status (ie., DD-214, Current Military ID Card, or Deployment or Pre-separation orders).

Before You Apply

Here are some important things to know:

  • Non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid, which means they pay out of pocket. Review our tuition and fees above.
  • Non-degree students are not allowed to register for certain classes that are subject to restrictions, such as nursing classes, fieldwork, and internships.
  • F-1 students attending another college in the U.S. must be given permission for the non-degree program from their home school DSO. F-1 students outside the U.S. are not eligible for this program.

After You Apply

  • Please allow 5-7 business days for your application to be processed.
  • Watch your inbox – once you’re admitted, you will receive an email from LaGuardia.
  • Submit your proof of vaccination and immunization, and review the guidelines for coming to campus.
  • After you’re admitted, you can register for classes in CUNYfirst. (See how to use Schedule Builder.)
  • Find your bill and payment deadline in CUNYfirst. (Non-payment before the deadline will result in the cancelation of your registration.)
