SERVICES
Train & Earn is a career pathways program serving youth ages 16-24 who are out of work and out of school. We provide comprehensive job training and employment services along with support services to help you find a permanent job and/or access postsecondary education and training.
We offer free training in the following fields:
Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)
Gain essential skills for entry-level medical office roles, including medical terminology, documentation, confidentiality, professional etiquette, patient service, and Microsoft Office.
Central Service/Sterile Technician (CST)
Become a vital part of the healthcare team, learning to decontaminate, sterilize and distribute crucial medical equipment. Prepare for national certification in this high demand field.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Become a skilled first responder, providing critical care in emergency situations. This training can be the first step towards various advanced healthcare careers.
Additional Services:
- Internship and job placement assistance in a healthcare field
- Job readiness support (resume/cover letter building, mock interviews)
- MetroCards
- Vouchers for certification exams
- Social and mental health services/support
- Access to an array of offerings at LaGuardia Community College

Yes, all Train & Earn offerings are free of cost to participants.
No, training is unpaid. However, you will receive MetroCards to get to and from training and support services sessions.
Upon program completion, you will receive a voucher to take the respective certification exam at no cost. In addition, you will work closely with a Train & Earn Employment Specialist for support with internship and job placement.
No. Once you are enrolled in a Train & Earn program, you are not eligible to enroll in another NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD)-funded training for at least one year.
Once an application becomes available for a Train & Earn program you are interested in, you should apply as soon as possible! Applicants are considered on a first come, first served basis (if eligible). Once a training program is filled, applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
