Understanding and navigating the Blackboard environment is one of the most important steps to success in an online class.
Blackboard is a learning management system that allows students and faculty members to access course materials, conduct course activities, communicate, and collaborate online. Students in courses that use Blackboard can access those courses anywhere and anytime they can access the World-Wide Web.
Your instructor will let you know whether or not he is using Blackboard as part of his course. Course enrollment is an automated process between the Registrar office and the CUNY department. If you do not see a course for which you believe you are registered, this could mean that your instructor is in the process of creating/updating your course and you will not see the course until the instructor makes it available to students. Blackboard is a web-based learning management software package, which instructors at LaGuardia can use to present content and interactive functions to students. Participants will explore various aspects of Blackboard from both the student and instructor perspective like learning to navigate Blackboard, adding content to a Blackboard site, setting courses availability, configuring the course menu, etc. Faculty can receive individualized support from our training team. Come work independently or with a fellow department member whether you are unfamiliar or would like to expand your Blackboard knowledge, staff will be on hand to answer your individual questions and provide support as you work to meet your individual goals for the session.
