    Why should I apply?

  • As a President's Society Environment Ambassador you will learn how to make your voice heard as you work to make our neighborhood a better and more sustainable place.

    • Earn a stipend of $3,000 for participating in the program
    • Learn how to make a difference in your community through grassroots activism
    • Collaborate with local community groups and government organizations to influence change
    • Work on projects that improve the LaGuardia campus and surrounding area, such as advocating for a walk and bike-friendly campus, community gardens, and improved water quality

    Am I eligible?

  • Successful applicants are highly-motivated self starters who ask questions, seek answers, and demand more of themselves every day. To be eligible, you must:

    • Be a full-time LaGuardia student taking 12 or more credits (or equivalent)
    • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Make a firm commitment to attend all President's Society Environment meetings
      • Team Project Work: Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please note these Tuesdays meetings are subject to change come the spring semester
      • Workshops: Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Please note the program foresees at least the first half of the program being virtual (on Zoom Meetings)
    • Have strong interest in environmental justice and a desire to be a part of community-led solutions
