Students receive support from LaGuardia Cares. 5,000 students use LaGuardia Cares every year.

LaGuardia Cares provides financial assistance with daily living expenses, e.g. pay for doctor’s visits, medications, food, rent, utilities, child care, transportation and more! All of our services are free for LaGuardia students and their immediate family members.

The food drive is a collaboration among LaGuardia Cares, Student Affairs, the College Senate Committee on Food Insecurity, Institutional Advancement, Academic Affairs, and the Food & Nutrition Program.

As of Tuesday, April 21, the food pantry will be open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the E-Building. Nonperishables only.

  • The crisis of food insecurity on college campuses

    LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. (CBS)

Thousands of students are collecting diplomas this month at college graduations around the country. But along with the celebrations is the reality that nearly half of the nation's students are going hungry.

Jesse Delacruz is a psychology major at LaGuardia Community College. When he lost his job, he ran out of money for food, so he started to visit the school's free pantry.
