Mr. Pappas has been a part of the LaGuardia family for many years now, graduating from Middle College High School in 1995 and receiving his Associate in Arts degree in 1998. Since then, he has remained a part of LaGuardia’s community as a staff member, working in several areas, including the Speech Center, Enrollment Management & Student Development, Admissions, and the Student Information Center. He currently works as a CUNY Office Assistant in the Department of Mathematics, Engineering & Computer Science. Mr. Pappas also represents the Alumni Association on the College Senate.
While attending LaGuardia, Mr. Pappas was involved in many activities throughout the campus. “My heart has always been with LaGuardia”, as a member of the Student Government Association and various campus-wide committees his work included working on the Middle States visit and various Search Committees. During his term in SGA, he participated in many worthwhile activities, including the establishment of the Student Lounge and the Raymond C. Bowen Scholarships, named after a former LaGuardia College President. As a student, he served on the College Senate for two years, becoming the first ever student Vice Chair, and was a founding member of the LaGuardia Acting Company and the Center for Leadership. He became highly involved in the various student clubs & organizations on campus, including serving as the 1st Student Chair of the Student Advisory Committee(SAC). Throughout this involvement, Mr. Pappas found the time to volunteer with the College Bound program and other community service groups. His service to the Community continues today as he is currently Vice President of the East River Kiwanis Club and a Board member of the Astoria/LIC Kiwanis Club also serving as advisor to a local, K-Kids, Key Club and Circle K International club.

Ramanuj Das

Send an Email Ramanuj Das is the Vice President of Marketing of the LaGuardia Community College Alumni Association. Ramanuj works in MEC Department at LaGuardia Community College as a college assistant.
He earned an associate degree in Business Administration from LaGuardia Community College in 2013. Ramanuj studies at CUNY Baruch College and expecting to graduate in December. During 2011-2012, Mr. Das was an Executive Treasurer of Student Government Association at LaGuardia. He was a student senator in 2011 as well as an active member of BSA club.
Ramanuj's mission is to explore opportunities that will help LaGuardia alumni and current students. With the knowledge of leadership and research skill, Mr. Das is working hard to put together more events to support develop professional skills, increase alumni's network, gain employment for alumni and current students.

Sobia Abdul
Class 2010
Send an Email Ms. Abdul graduated from LaGuardia community college in 2010 with an associate degree in applied science. Later, she transferred to Baruch College to complete her bachelor's degree in accounting. Currently, she is working as an accounts payable and receivables coordinator at a diabetic supplies company.
She became highly involved in the student life at Baruch College. For instance, she was a member of Transfer Student Organization that helped new transfer students to ease their educational journey at Baruch College.
Ms. Abdul’s goal is to make sure that association's initiative provides all the possible solutions for the problems that an alumni can think of. She looks forward to helping alumni strengthen their ties with LaGuardia Community College.

IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT
Richard Nuñez-Lawrence

Send an Email Richard Nuñez-Lawrence is the current President of the LaGuardia Alumni Association. Mr. Nuñez-Lawrence has also served on LaGuardia’s Alumni Association as its Vice President of Fiscal Affairs, Parliamentarian, and Secretary.
Mr. Nuñez-Lawrence is the current President and CEO of the LatinoFoodFestival.com as well as the Managing Principal for Praetorian Solutions – a Public Strategy and Non-Profit Management Consulting firm. In addition, Mr. Nuñez-Lawrence has held key administrative positions in higher education, financial services, and government.
Mr. Nuñez-Lawrence obtained his Associate’s in Arts at LaGuardia Community College in 1997. After LaGuardia, he attained a Bachelor in Arts in English Literature, a Master’s in Arts in Political Science concentrated in Urban Policy and Public Administration, and has Professional Certificates in Non-Profit Management and Grant Writing. He’s currently a doctoral candidate in Education at St. John’s University.
As President of the Association, Mr. Nuñez-Lawrence works to bring his professional experiences to make improvements to alumni as well as building a mentoring bridge between the Alumni Association and the current student body. As Parliamentarian, he worked on upgrading the Association Bylaws and building a stronger connection with current LaGuardia graduates. As Secretary, Mr. Nuñez-Lawrence streamlined the process to create and disseminate Association minutes to the Executive Board and all its members. As Vice President of Fiscal Affairs he worked to add more payment alternatives to alumni members resulting in the Association receiving more revenue for its operation budget.
As President of the LaGuardia Alumni Association, Mr. Nuñez-Lawrence is working with the leadership of the his Executive Board on improving fundraising for the Association, offering programming opportunities offered by the Association for Alumni, and building a mentorship apparatus for LaGuardia’s current student population. Mr. Nuñez-Lawrence plans to continue to grow the Association. With the leadership of the LaGuardia Alumni Association and its members Mr. Nuñez- Lawrence knows these improvements to the Association are possible.
