    Graduation Eligibility

    A. Graduation is the Registrar’s official confirmation that you have met all the degree requirements. Commencement is the ceremony hosted by LaGuardia Community College that celebrates students’ graduation.

    A. Most students are close to graduation when they reach 60 credits. You can check your progress online by using Student Advisement Degree Audit, My LaGuardia or by seeing an advisor on your Advising Team.

    A. Apply for graduation by registering for “Intent to Graduate” (course code GRD000) once you have registered for your last course during your last semester of attendance. Registering for graduation is required to trigger the Registrar’s evaluation of your record. Without this official evaluation you cannot graduate

NOTE: You need to apply for graduation even if you do not participate in the 2021. The last day to apply for Spring 2021 graduation is Thursday, April 15.

    A. Thursday, April 15, 2021 is the last day to apply for Intent to Graduate for Spring 2021. All students who have submitted their Intent to Graduate application before the deadline will be able to participate in the virtual Class of 2021 Celebration.

    A. Once you apply for graduation, the Registrar will evaluate your record, determine whether you have met your degree requirements and confirm that you have graduated. If you don’t meet these requirements by the end of the semester in which you applied for graduation, you need to re-apply for graduation and be re-evaluated the following semester.

    A. Not at this time. The 2021 commencement ceremony is open for Fall 2020 graduates and Spring 2021 potential graduates (filed “Intent to Graduate”) to participate. Note: Students who graduated in Spring 2020 can also participate in the 2021 commencement ceremony, but their names will not be included in the digital program.

    Virtual Celebration

    A. Traditional commencement ceremonies have been postponed across CUNY for Spring 2021, but that does not change our desire to celebrate your accomplishments and to mark this special occasion. On Tuesday, June 17, 2021, we invite you, your family and friends to tune in to a virtual celebration on our website.

These changes and circumstances do not change the date of your graduation – diplomas will reflect the proper date that degree requirements were completed.

    A. Visit the LaGuardia commencement page to participate in a virtual celebration of the Class of 2021. You can also share your memories of LaGuardia and at-home celebrations by tagging @LaGuardiaCC and #LAGCCGrad2021.

Prior to the ceremony, you can create an official slide that can be customized with your photo and a personal message, and which can be downloaded and shared on social media, through MarchingOrder. Watch your LaGuardia inbox for an email with the subject line "Create Your Graduation Slide" for more information about creating your slide! (The deadline is Monday, June 7.)

    A. LaGuardia Community College has partnered with Parchment to deliver both a digital and hard copy diploma in a safe and secure manner. You will receive an email and text message (if applicable) from Parchment with a link to view, download and share your digital diploma.
