• Bilingual Medical Assistant Course for English Language Learners

     

    Thank you for your interest in the Bilingual Medical Assistant Course for English Language Learners offered by LaGuardia Community College, the New York Alliance for Careers in Healthcare (NYACH), and the NYC Department of Small Business Services!

    This intensive, year-long evening and weekend course is designed to train high intermediate English language learners to become certified as medical assistants, improve their English language skills, and obtain employment in the New York City healthcare sector. The course is free of charge for eligible New York City residents.

    Requirements for students:

    -Must be 18 years of age or older.
    -Must be an English language learner.
    -Must be a New York City resident (within 5 boroughs).
    -Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and meet all federal Selective Service requirements.
    -Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
    -Must be available to attend all evening and Saturday sessions (12 months coursework; 3 months internship).
    -Must be able to commute to course locations in Washington Heights (Manhattan) and Long Island City (Queens)
    -Must be interested in a career in the healthcare sector.
    -Must currently earn $30,000 or less per year as an individual.
