Welcome to SIELP

New immigrant students who will be going to ninth grade in September are invited to join our six-week summer program located at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City, Queens.  The students study English, work on different projects with computers, meet new people, attend gym once a day, and go on trips around the city. We meet from 9:00AM-3:00PM Monday through Friday. To participate students write an essay at their local schools.

SIELP 2006 ACTIVITIES

1. Read 3 books:

1) War Comes to Willy Freeman by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier.
2) ...If You Lived at the Time of The American Revolution by Kay Moore.
3) My Brother Sam is Dead by James L. Collier & Christopher Collier.
 
2. Go to two field trips.

1) Fraunces Tavern Museum.
2) Old Bethpage Restoration.
 
3. Create PowerPoint Presentations.
4. Write four compositions.
5. Do a recording Project.
