Frequently Asked Questions About eSIMS Registration

WHEN DO SPRING 2007 CLASSES BEGIN?
Spring classes begin on Sunday, March 4, 2007.

HOW CAN I GET ACCESS TO eSIMS?
Students can find eSIMS on the LaGuardia home page by clicking on the blue Register box in the lower left corner. They can then select eSIMS "Spring Sign In" on the next page, then on the eSIMS home page type your Student ID for ID and PIN number for PIN, or students can use the following URL:
http://esims.cuny.edu/NotLoggedInServlet?CurrentCommand=CollegeProcess&CollegeCode=LG. Click the eSIMS web registration icon, then click on "eSIMS log in", select "LaGuardia", click "Submit", then type your Student ID for ID and PIN number for PIN.

HOW DO I GET MY PIN?
New students will receive their Personal Identification Number at the time they come to campus for new student orientation, advisement and registration.

HOW DO I GET MY REPLACEMENT PIN?
The PIN is not changed, except by the student. If you need your PIN reset, visit the Registrar's Office in C-107 with a valid picture ID. You will receive a temporary PIN that should be changed to a number that only you can remember.

WHEN CAN I REGISTER?
You will receive a specific appointment date and time to begin registration.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I DO NOT RECEIVE MY REGISTRATION INFORMATION IN THE MAIL?
Check your NetMail (student e-mail), DegreeWorks, or eSIMS. You may visit the Registrar's Office (C-107) or call 718-482-5242 or email ONLINEREG@lagcc.cuny.edu . You can also check eSIMS using the Registration option. Your registration date and time will be displayed under the appropriate semester.

All students must register online using eSIMS.

Continuing students register online (eSIMS) at home, at the public library, or at one of the College's open computer labs. You are encouraged to attend an eSIMS workshop so that you are prepared to use eSIMS. Check your NetMail for workshop information.

New students will be invited to register on campus by appointment and will receive assistance in learning how to use eSIMS. Students will be expected to complete their own registration.

IF I NEED HELP USING ESIMS, WHAT DO I DO?
Go to the on line eSIMS tutorial on our home page.

If you still have questions regarding registration, please email ONLINEREG@lagcc.cuny.edu
or visit the Registrar's Office in C-107 or call the Student Information Center at (718) 482-5242.

All college offices and phones will be very busy during the registration period, so if you are experiencing difficulty in reaching an office, please be patient and try back later.

If you have a stop or hold, contact the office that placed the hold on your record. If a course is closed, you need to choose another section of the course, or another course. You will NOT be referred to the academic department. If you are uncertain what course to take, refer to the on-line Catalog and review the requirements for each degree at the beginning of the Catalog. If you cannot log-on, reboot your computer and carefully retry the sign-on.

ARE THERE ANY RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO ME ON WEEKENDS?
Check your NetMail for Saturday Hours.

WILL I BE ABLE TO CHANGE MY PROGRAM AFTER INITIAL REGISTRATION?
YES. You can change your program without penalty prior to March 5th.

Starting March 5th, there is an $18 fee for each change of program (Add or Replace a course). The change of program feature will be available throughout the eSIMS registration period and through the fourth day of classes.

When using eSIMS to process a change, be certain to use the Take and Replace option instead of the Drop and Add keys to prevent unnecessary tuition liability charges.

HOW DO I KNOW IF ONE OF MY COURSES HAS BEEN CANCELLED?
You can check your schedule at any time. A deleted course will not appear on your schedule.

You will also be sent a NetMail notification of a cancelled course.

You can then go into eSIMS to add another section or course. Please remember to print your Course schedule
