Prepare for a new career in healthcare!

The New York Basic Education and Skills Training Programs at LaGuardia Community College help people with high school diplomas train for careers in three different healthcare areas.


Supporting Adults through Vocational EMT Training (S. A. V. E.) Program

Students in this program prepare for the New York State Emergency Medical Technician certification exam.This is a 5-month program which includes pre-training, lectures, practical skills labs, and two clinical rotations in New York City ambulances.


Integrated Medical Office Clinical Technician (I-MOCT) Program

Students in this program prepare for a variety of certification exams to become a medical office technician. This is a 6-month program which includes pre-training, lectures, practical skills labs, and an internship at an area clinic, hospital, or medical office.


Community Health Worker (CHW) Program

Students in this program prepare for a variety of certification exams to become a community health worker. This is a ??-month program which includes courses in community health and an internship in the field.


Career training classes are open to students with high school diplomas who test at or above a 7th grade reading level. Contact us for more program information (link).
