    Social workers help people deal with emotional, cultural, socio-economic and physical needs. They may help people facing problems such as homelessness, unemployment, financial distress, serious illness, alcohol or substance abuse, unwanted pregnancy, or serious domestic conflicts. The majority of social workers are employed by government and non-profit organizations. They are found in a variety of settings including child welfare agencies, social services agencies, schools, mental health agencies, hospitals, clinics, health centers, nursing homes, home health care agencies, and prisons.
