LaGuardia Community College received a $250,000 contribution from the Wallace Foundation to endow the Joe Shenker Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will provide students with the tuition assistance they need. This support is timely during a rough economy. This contribution is the largest gift Wallace has bestowed upon the College. Wallace made the donation in memory of their former Board member and LaGuardia’s founding president, Joseph Shenker, who passed away on September 20, 2008 after a brief battle with pulmonary fibrosis at age 68.
