In this era of globalization, gaining a global perspective and international experience is becoming the key to career success anywhere in the world.

Aware of this emerging reality, LaGuardia Community College began offering the International Studies Option in Liberal Arts in Fall 2000. This interdisciplinary option draws on the best resources of LaGuardia to prepare students to become better informed world citizens and to develop the competencies needed to survive and succeed in the new global economy.

In addition to a rigorous curriculum in the classroom, students will also be provided excellent internship opportunities in the international arena, both here and abroad. They can also participate in the Study Abroad Program, taking courses in a selected foreign country.

My experience at LaGuardia gave me a global perspective that is a tool to live in a cosmopolitan city such as New York. In this college I found attentive advisor and professors who recognized my talents and guided me through a journey that culminated with an exchange program in New Zealand.  Now I know that my choice was not only the beginning of my career; it was also a turning point in my life.
