INTERNSHIP PROBLEMS

Be aware of potential on-the-internship problems that may arise including work assignments differing from what was described; interpersonal conflict (with other employees or with your supervisor); or excessive lateness or sickness on your part. Many problems can be quickly solved if you take appropriate action when they occur. Your first attempt should be top solve the problem on your own. Use your communication skills. If your best efforts fail, call your Co-op Faculty Advisor or Internship Coordinator who placed you immediately.

Termination or withdrawal from a Cooperative Education internship must be approved by your Coop Faculty Advisor or designee. Failure to contact your Coop Faculty Advisor prior to leaving an internship will result in an “F” grade. It is recognized that termination of employment may be due to a variety of justifiable reasons. Therefore, each case will be handled individually by the Co-op Advisor subject to normal grade procedures of review and appeal of Cooperative Education grades.
