Professional Pharmacy Technician Program

This comprehensive 50-hour course will prepare you to work in a variety of health care settings, including pharmacies and hospitals. It will also enable you to develop the skills and competencies needed to perform technical work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. Topics include medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow, rates, drug compounding and drug conversions. Dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, billing and reimbursement will also be discussed. Textbooks and materials are included in the tuition. Upon completion of the course, students who pass the national exam administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board will become Certified Pharmacy Technicians. (To take the test, you need a high school diploma or GED.) This course is offered in cooperation with Condensed Curriculum International, Inc., which provides placement assistance to those who successfully complete the program. Prerequisite: Students must pass a screening test to demonstrate competency in using decimals, metric conversions and basic algebra. For more information, call 718-482-5125.

Personal Fitness Training Certification: AAAI/ISMA

Learn cardiovascular fitness, weight training and nutrition, principles of strength training, aerobics and fitness testing. Prevent and identify injuries as well as design individualized fitness programs for clients, including free weights, resistance training and cardiovascular conditioning. This "all in one" workshop includes highly suggested readings before the class (call 609-397-2139 for book purchase information) and concludes with the AAAI/ISMA test for personal fitness trainer certification, which is good for two years. Primary Aerobic Instructor Certification

Become certified to teach Aerobics! Prepare for and take the American Aerobic Association International/International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA) test for Primary Aerobic Instructor Certification, which is good for two years, and get paid to stay in shape while helping others reach their fitness goals. You'll review the selected readings, exploring Aerobic class structure and design, anatomy and physiology, injury prevention; and specific aerobic workout routines.
