• Scholarships

    Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic performance, community service and extracurricular activities. Students can apply at any time and scholarships are awarded in Fall and Spring semesters.

    • Complete a FAFSA application or a Needs Assessment Form, which can be obtained from the Student Support Center, Room E-511.
    • Show financial need
    • Be enrolled full-time with 12 or more credits (or the equivalent)
    • Be in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or greater
      • F1 Status are eligible to apply after completing one semester with 12 credits or more. Students should visit the ISS Office, Room B117 to request an ISS Eligibility Criteria Form before completing the online scholarship application.
      • Non F1 Status are eligible to apply; to determine eligibility please file a FAFSA application for resident students and a Needs Assessment Form for non-resident students which should be submitted to the Student Support Center, Room E-511.
      • ASAP students who receive no tuition assistance may apply. ASAP students whose tuition is covered by financial aid or an ASAP tuition waiver are not eligible for Foundation Scholarships.
      • Students in their last semester may still be eligible if enrolled for less than 12 credits.
      • Students enrolled in Allied Health majors with less than 12 credits may be eligible.

    The 2019-2020 LaGuardia Foundation Scholarship application is now closed and the awarding process for the current academic year is complete.

    Students facing unexpected expenses for textbooks, transportation or other college-related expenses may apply for Emergency Fund support.

    • Be enrolled in an academic program full-time or part-time
    • Show financial need
    • Be in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or greater
    • The application can be filled out here but cannot be submitted online. Feel free to print it out and bring it to the Student Support Center (Room E-511) or you may come to E511 to complete and submit the form.
    • A copy of your Unofficial Transcript is required. This can also be printed in advance or onsite in the Student Support Center (Room E-511)
    • Before requesting textbook assistance, you should first visit the Barnes and Noble Bookstore on campus to include both the “New” and “Used” prices of the requested textbook(s) on your application

  • New Americans Fund

    If you’re a LaGuardia Community College immigrant student—including undocumented or a DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipient—and are struggling to make ends meet or facing unexpected financial challenges, the New Americans Fund is here to support and help you stay on track towards graduation. Offered through the LaGuardia Community College Foundation, the New Americans Fund can provide you with a special scholarship to pay tuition, and emergency funds for legal fees, medical bills, childcare, MetroCards, textbooks, and other critical needs.

  • To qualify you must be a LaGuardia Community College student who is:
    • Enrolled in a degree program, either full-time or part-time
    • Able to demonstrate (with relevant documentation) financial need
    • In good academic standing, with a GPA of 2.0 or higher

    Applying takes a few easy steps:
    1. Fill out an application, which can be accessed here or by visiting the LaGuardia Community College Foundation Student Support Center (E-511)
    2. Print a copy of your unofficial transcript, available from your CUNYfirst account. If you don’t have access to a printer, you can print it out at the Student Support Center
    3. Submit your completed application, documentation of financial need, and unofficial transcript in-person at the Student Support Center
