Who is eligible to receive tutoring?
The SGA Study Hall Tutoring Lab is available for ALL LaGuardia Community College students who are currently registered in credit or continuing education courses. When can I see a tutor?
The Tutoring Lab has student-friendly hours. Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 7:45 p.m. (Summer/Winter session 7:00 p.m.) Friday 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Summer closed Friday) Do you provide tutoring for the placement test? No. What types of tutoring are available?
How do I request scheduled tutoring session? You can make your tutoring appointments in person in Room M159 or call 718-482-6064. Who will be tutoring me? All tutors at the Tutoring Lab have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours and have at least 3.2 GPA. Tutors have earned an “A” or “B” in the classes they tutor. What is the cost of tutoring? Tutoring Lab services are free of charge for all current LaGuardia Community College students. For how many courses may I request tutoring? One hour per course, per day. Can I use a computer at the Tutoring Lab? Yes. Computers are available for students to use during tutoring sessions to write papers and do research online.
How do I become a tutor?
If you are interested in becoming a tutor, you must have at least a 3.2 overall cumulative GPA, a 3.5 cumulative GPA in the specific discipline and completed at least 30 credits.
