LaGuardia Community College Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities/Advocacy (OSRR/A) consists of two independent functions; Conduct Administration and Compliance, and Student Advocacy. The mission of the OSRR/A is to engage students in learning that will enhance their ability to maintain a high standard of academic and social integrity. OSRR/A provides information and techniques relative to behavioral standards within the college, with the intent of providing specific transferable skills for students in their professional pursuit. OSRR/A provides students with information on academic and non-academic matters to enable them to make informed decisions. Moreover, OSRR/A disseminates information to various entities within the College community through literature and forums, on strategies for communicating with students on academic, behavioral and personal matters that can impact student progress. OSRR/A provides advocacy services on behalf of the student body in a fair, equitable and objective manner, while addressing a diverse range of issues and concerns. Many of the issues presented are addressed through dispute resolution and mediation services. Resources and referrals are also facilitated by OSRR/A for students to effectively navigate through various obstacles and challenges in support of attaining a successful and enriching College experience.
