3rd Step: Apply Now

Congratulations on your decision to apply to LaGuardia!

You'll need to determine 3 things before you start:

  1. How you want to file your application
  2. The type of application to file
  3. Whether to apply for Day or Extended Day status

If you'd like to receive admission information in the mail, please use the Admissions Inquiry Form.

You can file an online application via The City University of New York by clicking here

Applications

There are 3 types of admissions applications. You'll need to file only one of them. Filing an incorrect or incomplete application and/or documents will result in delays and possibly cost you additional fees, so please read this section and the application instructions carefully.

You may also call or Email Admissions if you need help deciding which one to file. All applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.  Students who have been educated outside the U.S. should refer to CUNYs Information for International Undergraduate Applicants for additional instructions.

Here are the online versions of the:
*Undergraduate FRESHMAN application
*Undergraduate TRANSFER application
*Visiting Student & Non-Degree application

Application deadlines: Please click here.

Who Should File a Freshman Application?
If you've NEVER attended a college, university, or postsecondary institution, and you want to earn a LaGuardia college degree or certificate, you should file a freshman application.

Applicants must submit their high school diploma and transcript or a GED with its scores.*

If you're currently a senior at a NYC public or parochial school, please ask your high school college advisor for a personalized City University of New York (CUNY) application.

The freshman application fee is $65.

Who Should File a Transfer Application?
If you HAVE attended a college, university or postsecondary institution (either in the U.S. or abroad), and you want to earn a LaGuardia college degree or certificate, you should file a transfer application.

This includes students transferring into LaGuardia with freshman status.

Applicants must submit their high school diploma and transcript or GED with its scores*, in addition to an official transcript from each college they attended.

In order to be eligible for advanced standing, transfer applicants need to have had good academic standing at their previous college(s). In addition, they must meet CUNY standards of retention as a condition for admission.

The transfer application fee is $70.

Who Should File a Visiting Student & Non-Degree Application?
If you want to enroll in individual courses without working toward either a LaGuardia college degree or certificate, you should fill out a Visiting Student & Non-Degree application. Please note that effective Fall I 2009 all Visiting and Non-Degree (non-matriculated) students are required to provide CUNY Assessment test results or prove exemptions from placement in remedial courses. They will also be required to meet pre-and co-requisites for all courses for which they register.

Visiting Student & Non-Degree applications can be filed in-person at the LaGuardia Admissions Office. The application can be downloaded (link to non-degree application) and it is also available in the Admissions Office. All applications must be submitted along with supporting academic documents in order to be processed. Please do not send Visiting Student & Non-Degree applications to the University Application Processing Center. Visiting Student & Non-Degree students are not eligible for Financial Aid. The Visiting Student & Non-Degree application fee is $65.

Day students may enroll in evening and weekend classes and Extended Day students may enroll in daytime classes. Every student, regardless of status, benefits from the same basic college services.

Day students must complete the colleges internship requirement. For most Extended Day students, internships are optional. If you want to learn more about how internships benefit our students, helping them gain real life work experience in the industry of their choice for college credit, click here.

Once you are registered, you cannot change your Day/Extended Day status.
